Mobile Sensory Table with Trays and Lids is a classroom sensory table built for four preschoolers at once. Each child gets a clear tray of their own, every tray has a lid, and two open shelves hold spare bins and tools. The table rolls on four lockable, non-marking casters, and at 27 in deep it fits through standard classroom doors. It is made in the US by Whitney Brothers, model WB1775, for children from about 3 to 8 years old.
How This Classroom Sensory Table Works
Four clear plastic trays sit in openings across the 33 x 27 in top, two on each side. Each tray measures 10.5 x 13 in and is 5 in deep, so four children can each work with a different material: water, sand, colored rice and natural loose parts at the same time. The trays lift out for filling, emptying and washing, and each one has its own lid. With all four lids on, the top becomes a flat surface and the materials stay covered until the next session.
Storage is built into the frame. One open shelf sits just below the tabletop and a second runs along the bottom of the cabinet, so scoops, funnels and spare bins (sold separately) stay at the table. When play is over, unlock the casters and roll the table to the sink, to a storage corner or out of the way for circle time.
Built for Daily Classroom Use
The cabinet of this classroom sensory table is birch plywood with a non-toxic natural UV finish, which the manufacturer says will not yellow and stands up to heavy use. The four heavy-duty casters are non-marking and lock in place, so the table stays put while children play. The table is GREENGUARD Gold certified, a certification for low chemical emissions that many schools look for in classroom furniture.

Is This the Right Classroom Sensory Table?
Choose this classroom sensory table when sensory play is a small-group activity. Four trays let four children work side by side without sharing one tub, which cuts down on waiting and disputes over tools. The 24.5 in height suits preschoolers and early elementary children standing at the table.
For a toddler room, the Toddler Sensory Table is the better fit. It is 14 in high with two trays of the same size, so trays and materials can move between the two tables. Our sensory tables collection compares both models.
Where It Works Best
- Preschool and pre-K classrooms. A permanent sensory center that one teacher can supervise.
- Kindergarten and early elementary. Measuring, sorting and early science with water and sand.
- STEM, STEAM and makerspace areas. Four trays for four parts of one investigation.
- Classrooms that share equipment. Roll it between rooms through a standard door.
- Special education classrooms and therapy rooms. Each child has a defined space and their own tray.
- Before and after school programs. Lids on for homework time, lids off for play.
A classroom sensory table pairs well with wall play. Our sensory wall panels for schools give children a standing activity with locks, gears and textures next to the table.
Activities for Four Trays
Four trays make it easy to run a comparison at one classroom sensory table. Fill each with a different material, such as dry sand, wet sand, water and rice, and ask children to describe how each one feels and moves. For a mystery tray game, hide small objects under a covering material and let children find them by touch with their eyes closed. Measuring cups, droppers and sink-or-float objects turn a water tray into a science station. Many teachers change one or two trays each week and keep the others as favorites.
Setup
- Read the Whitney Brothers assembly instructions, then assemble the table with hand tools. Two adults make this easier.
- Attach the casters and set the trays in their openings.
- Roll the table into place and lock all four casters before children use it.
- Check the hardware and casters regularly and tighten fasteners when needed.
Safety and Care
Use the table indoors with adult supervision, and choose materials suited to the youngest child in the group. Keep small items away from children who still put things in their mouths, and never use water beads with young children. Keep the casters locked during play.
Empty water trays at the end of each session. Lift the trays out and wash them with warm soapy water, then dry them before putting them back. Wipe the wooden table with a soft cloth and a little mild dish detergent and dry it right away. Avoid abrasive cleaners, ammonia, silicone sprays and standing water on the wood.
