The Whitney Plus Radiant LED Light Table is a light table for classroom learning centers, built so a whole small group can reach the lit surface at once. The top is 47 x 23.5 in with gently curved corners, and the long sides of the frame are lit too, so children can explore objects from above and from the side. It is made in the US by Whitney Brothers, model WB0737, and matches the rest of the Whitney Plus classroom furniture collection.
What Makes the Radiant Table Different
Most light tables light only the top. This one adds illuminated side panels, so a child sitting low or kneeling beside the table sees light from a second angle. Translucent objects held against the side show color and texture in a new way, and younger children who cannot yet reach the middle of the top still have something to explore.
The shape is designed around access. Curved corners are kinder to children moving past and let more of them gather at the ends. The legs are fastened lengthwise under the frame, which keeps the table stable without blocking knees and chairs along the long sides. Leg levelers are included, so the table sits flat on an uneven classroom floor.
How the Lighting Works
An LED lighting system lights the acrylic top and the side panels from inside the frame. According to Whitney Brothers, it gives brighter and more evenly spread light, uses less electricity and produces less heat. The lighting system is UL Listed in the USA and Canada.
The frame and legs are 1 in birch plywood with a natural UV finish. The table is GREENGUARD Gold certified, a certification for low chemical emissions that many schools look for in classroom furniture.

Choosing a Light Table for Classroom Use
For a classroom, the main question is how many children will use the table at once. As a light table for classroom learning centers, this 47 in model suits a small group working together, with a teacher at one end. It is the widest model in our collection and one of two with lit sides, which makes it our most complete classroom light table.
If you are comparing two group tables, the Superbright LED Large Light Table is slightly shorter at 43 in and has a lit top only. It is a good choice if your room is not furnished in the Whitney Plus collection. For one or two children, the Superbright LED Light Table is more compact. If you like the lit sides but want children in a circle, the round Nature View Radiant LED Light Table has them too. Our light tables for kids collection compares all five models.
Where It Works Best
- Preschool and pre-K classrooms. The anchor of a science, light and color, or block center.
- Classrooms furnished in Whitney Plus. It shares the design language of the collection's shelves and tables.
- Kindergarten and early elementary. Small-group work on letters, numbers, patterns and early science.
- Daycare centers. The lit sides give toddlers on the floor something to explore at their eye level.
- Montessori and Reggio Emilia-inspired programs. Open-ended exploration of color, transparency and shadow.
- Special education classrooms and sensory rooms. A group station with access from every side.
- Children's museums and libraries. A drop-in table where families can play together.
In a classroom, a light table often sits across from a wall of sensory wall panels, so children move between a table activity and a wall activity in the same zone. Our guide to what should be in a sensory room covers planning a space by zones.
Classroom Activities for the Radiant Table
On a light table for classroom groups, the lit sides open up activities a flat table cannot offer. Children can hold colored acrylic shapes against a side panel and watch the color change. A teacher can tape a translucent picture to the side for a group to trace from the top. On the top itself, magnetic tiles, see-through blocks, X-ray style picture cards and natural objects all work well. Many teachers rotate a small set of materials each week so the same light table for classroom use keeps offering something new.
Setup
- Read the Whitney Brothers assembly instructions, then complete the partial assembly with hand tools. Two adults make this easier.
- Place the table near an outlet with room for children on all sides, and run the cord along the wall, away from walkways.
- Adjust the leg levelers until the table sits flat and does not rock.
- Switch it on and check that the top and side panels light evenly before the first session.
Safety and Care
This light table is for indoor use with adult supervision. An adult should set it up, check the cord and switch it off after use. The acrylic top is a work surface only. It is not for climbing, sitting, standing or storing items. Hardware can loosen with daily classroom use, so check it regularly and tighten fasteners when needed.
For cleaning, wipe the surface, side panels and frame with a soft cloth and a little mild dish detergent in water, then dry it right away. Avoid abrasive cleaners, ammonia, silicone sprays and standing water. Keep sand and liquids in trays rather than directly on the lit top.
